年末年始の慌ただしさもひと段落し、ようやく新年のご挨拶ができるタイミングとなりました。

少し遅くなりましたこと、どうかお赦しください。

 

ここ酒田では、大晦日から降り始めた雪が、1月3日の朝にピークを迎えました。

まるで旅館の年末年始のピークに合わせてくれたかのような、少し不思議な“予定調和”の中で、2026年が幕を開けました。

 

私自身、酒田、そして若葉旅館に来て10年目の新年を迎え、改めて、自然には、美しさだけでなく、時に「厳しさ」とし

て向き合わなければならない存在であることを、文字通り肌で感じながら日々を過ごさせて頂いております。

 

ですが、だからこそ、若葉旅館のあるここ庄内には、人と人が支え合う文化が、今も自然に息づいているのだ、そう実感しています。

 

酒田・時を奏でる宿「若葉旅館」は、庄内という地域との繋がりを大切にしながら、訪れる皆さまの記憶に残る時間と場所をご提供できる宿を今年も目指してまいります。

“Happy New Year from Sakata “

— Wakaba Ryokan, where time gently plays its tune.

 

As the busy season of the year-end and New Year holidays has finally settled, we are grateful for this moment to share our New Year’s greetings with you.

Please forgive us for being just a little late

 

Here in Sakata, snow began falling on New Year’s Eve and reached its peak on the morning of January 3rd. Almost as if it knew our rhythm, the snow arrived in perfect harmony with our busiest days a curious, quiet kind of synchronicity to welcome the beginning of 2026.

 

This New Year marks my tenth year in Sakata and at Wakaba Ryokan.

 

Living here, I am reminded once again that nature in Tohoku is not only beautiful,but also powerful, demanding respect and humility.

Oh well, it is something we feel not only with our eyes, but deeply, through our skin and our days.

Perhaps because of this, here in the Shonai region by the seaside, a culture of people supporting one another continues to

live on — naturally, warmly, and sincerely.

 

In 2026 as well, Wakaba Ryokan will continue to cherish its connection with warm local community, striving to be a place where every guest is offered not just a stay, but a memory —not just a moment, but a feeling that lingers.
